Ten years ago I set out to distill the Misfits into a mixtape. I knew exactly how I wanted it to sound. It would be the best versions of their essential cuts, stacked in the perfect order to sustain the energy throughout the mix. Every couple of years I’d take a run at putting a mixtape together and wind up with results that felt like a playlist on shuffle.
Fast forward to 2021. I had food poisoning in Mexico, followed by COVID. With extra time on my hands I found myself shuffling those Misfits songs around again. This time I got a groove going. The mixtape flowed from there.
Here it is. Fifty minutes of nothing but the creme da le creme, straight heaters from one of my favorite bands.
